Seasonal fluctuation

Long-distance passenger rail services are subject to pronounced seasonal fluctuation. This is also the case for air transport, but for rail transport services, the summer peak load is significantly higher. The minimum amount of rail services traffic occurs in February (5.1% of the annual volume in 2013) and the maximum in August (14.4% of the annual volume of JSC FPC passenger trains).

In addition, peak demand for passenger rail services is notable in the days before the start of the weekend, national holidays and major events.
